The Go-Pods are unusual in that they have a one-piece GRP fibreglass shell with no seams or joints. This keeps water out and extends the life of the caravan.
A fibreglass maker uses a mould to create our proprietary shell design. The mould is filled with fibreglass and allowed to solidify. To create a custom-coloured shell that can be matched to any RAL paint code, paint can be blended with the fibreglass before it is put into the mould.
We manufacture the Go-Pods' bodies in-house, starting with an AL-KO galvanised steel chassis. The shell is then attached to the chassis, and the interior of the Go-Pod is fitted.
The interior of the Go-Pod is completely covered in a thick layer of insulation, which keeps the space cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Marine-grade plywood, which is water resistant and aids in preventing water infiltration from road water, is used to construct the floor (and subfloor). Using premium caravan sealant, the edges are tightly sealed.
Strong plywood is used to make the interior furniture units, which come in three finishes. A variety of hues are available for the curtains and seating cloth.
Wonderful question!
A Go-Pod may be towed by most cars. They weigh only 540 kg at the factory standard, which is exceptionally light (in part due to the GRP fibreglass shell).
A Go-Pod can be towed by any vehicle having a "braked towing allowance" of 750 kg or more. To determine your vehicle's towing capacity, please see the registration documentation or manual.
Standard 50mm tow balls and 13 pin Euro socket electrical are required.
This outlet can accommodate the Go-Pods 13-pin plug, which also charges the on-board leisure batteries and operates the fridge while in motion in addition to the towing lights.
You can purchase an adaptor to convert the leads if your tow vehicle has twin electrics. You can use an adaptor if your automobile only has 7-pin electrics, but it will only operate the driving lights and won't supply electricity to anything else.
You don't need an AL-KO tow bar, and other tow bars will fit just fine.
Tyre sizes and appropriate substitutes
The standard tyre size for all Go-Pods is 175/70 R13 86N, including those with increased chassis ratings of 1000 kg.
175/70 R13 82T is a good substitute for Go-Pods with a 750 kg chassis rating.
Pressure in tyres
35 psi tyres are used on Go-Pod trailers.
Torque for wheel nuts
The wheel nut torque for normal wheels is 65 lbs, and for alloy wheels, it is 95 lbs.
Any reputable caravan workshop can service your Go-Pod, however we recommend going to your local Go-Pod dealer because they will have more specialised knowledge of the Go-Pods and will be able to acquire replacement components for repairs if necessary.
A standard service comprises inspecting the critical safety components (chassis, hitch and brakes), as well as the electrical and gas systems.
